Justice explains God
Part 1: No God, No Justice
I’m convinced that love is the most important. Why? Because I believe love is goodness. In other words, Love means to do good. Doing good includes. But not limited to
Being respectful
Being kind
Being honest
Having compassion
Being considerate
Showing appreciation
Seeking justice
Seeking peace
Seeking unity
Do you know why acts such as abuse, murder, and rape are wrong? Because they violate love, and love is what gives humanity objective value. Our worth and dignity is based on our ability to love & be loved. The reason why those wrong acts will make us sad, angry and wanting justice is because love is the standard for what we innately desire to live by.
Now, here’s the key question: When people experience the terrible acts of abuse, murder, and rape, do they deserve justice?
I hope you would agree with me and confidently say yes!
Why do they deserve justice? Because we have value! We understand that if something (or someone) has value and that value has been violated, then that violation must be fully addressed and that value must be properly rectified. That value deserve justice.
If that’s the case, then there’s a very serious problem.
Since mistreated people deserve justice, will all mistreated people throughout all time experience justice? Unfortunately, no.
But wait! Hold on! How can we say humanity has value and yet acknowledge that there are mistreated people who won’t experience justice?
What is the solution to this very serious problem?
Many will say there is no solution and we just have to accept life is unfair.
But hold on! We live in a world/reality where “life is unfair’, but yet we have an innate sense of justice, Doesn’t that seem odd?
Is it true that our only option is to accept there is no solution and simply accept the unfairness of life?
Well it depends. That would be the only option, unless someone has the attributes we need to establish justice for all mistreated people throughout all time.
What are the attributes needed?
Perfectly Righteous - Must be absolutely just and fair in order to be qualified to judge every human being throughout all time.
Omniscient - Must be absolutely aware of every situation of every human being, throughout all time, in order to fairly judge them.
Perfectly Wise - Must be able to make the absolute best decisions in all situations in order to justly and fairly judge every human being throughout all time
Sovereign - Must have absolute authority in order to judge every human being.
Transcendent - Must be absolutely able to judge every human throughout all time.
There’s no one in our world/reality who really has any of those attributes, let alone ALL of them. Those who say there’s no solution to the unfairness of life have a good point, but their point is only valid if they don’t look beyond what our world/reality really can offer!
Who is beyond our world/reality? God!
Part 2 - Know God Know Justice.
Not only does God have the attributes needed to establish justice for all mistreated people throughout all time. He MUST establish justice. Why? Because God is love, love is most important, and love DEMANDS justice.
“God is love.” - 1 John 4:8
“Love is more important than anything else” - Colossians 3:14
“Love is patient, and kind, never jealous, boastful, proud or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It does’t keep record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth but not in evil.” -1 Corinthians 13:4-6
“Your kingdom is ruled by justice and fairness with love and faithfulness leading the way” - Psalm 89:14
2. But how can God be love and not stop evil? Isn’t that a contradiction?
Well when it comes to evil, love MUST respond in one of the two ways:
A. Immediate response, An immediate response would be to stop the evil/bad/wrong act before it happens.
B. Eventual response. An eventual response would be to address and rectify any evil/bad/wrong act after it happens.
Unfortunately, many people will reject God because He doesn’t immediately respond to evil, but what response did God promise He will give?
“The Lord will bring justice and show mercy to all who serve him.” - Psalms 135:14
“He won’t quit or give up until he brings justice everywhere on earth.” Isaiah 42:4
“But God has promised us a new heaven and a new earth, where justice will rule. We are really looking forward to this!” - 2 Peter 3:13
“Then a kingdom of love will be set up, and someone from David’s family will rule with fairness. He will do what is right and quickly bring justice” Isaiah 16:5
3.but why trust the Bible?
We trust the Bible because it gives us the hope that God will bring justice.
“And the Scriptures were written to teach and encourage us by giving us hope.” - Romans 15:4
If the Bible was untrustworthy, we couldn’t have any comfort, security, and confidence in God’s promise of establishing justice.
(Later post will be historic evidence for the Bible being reliable, this post is just laying the groundwork.)
4. What about the contradictory parts of the Bible?
Most people find contradictions without understanding the language, hermeneutic, context, or historical purpose/style. This will be addressed in a later post as well.
For Now: Let’s focus on God
“God’s love can always be trusted, and his faithfulness lasts as long as the heavens” - Psalm 89:2
5. I want to share my issue with Atheism.
Atheist being up strong objections against God that make sense.(Problem of Evil, Divine hiddenness, Bayes theory.) I will address the most common atheist problems/answers in another blog post. (Sorry!!)
Atheism does not address the problem that God addresses, which is justice for all mistreated people, throughout all time, who died without justice.
In order to be an atheist you must accept life is unfair and all mistreated people who died without justice will not experience justice, sucks huh?
For me, I will never accept that because it would contradict the objective value of humanity, love and justice.
6. But doesn’t it cause anxiety to think that Christianity could be false and another religion could be true?
For me, it does not, I am convinced this is the truth, I have never heard a good argument for Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism. I can’t find any philosophical or logic issues that contradict with a God existing, and the evidence of the Bible is numerous. We’ll all cover all that later on though. Im happy knowing divine justice must and will prevail.
So I like logic and stuff, lets make a little P& not P flow here:
Premise 1: Every human being has objective value and dignity because of love.
Premise 2 Because every human being has objective value and dignity, every human being deserves justice when wronged.
Premise 3: There are mistreated people throughout all time, who have died without receiving justice.
Premise 4: Only God (or divine justice) can establish justice for all mistreated people, throughout all time, who died without justice.
Conclusion : therefore, God (or divine justice must exist.
Now I’ve never used this one in a debate (Im a debate nerd) however I don’t see any holes or logical leaps, looks pretty solid to me, of course we would have to support these premises, but I think this post did a pretty good job, with a little more supporting evidence of course.
Peace and blessings from our Lord and SAVIOR Jesus Christ
See you next time folks :)
